Description
Pultusk is one of the largest meteorite showers ever occured in Europe. It happened the evening of January 30, 1868. Over 100.000 stones rained down near the Polish town of Pultusk, a few miles north of the capital, Warsaw.
The fireball became visible at an altitude of 200 miles which is the highest one on record spotted by the naked eye. Most of the meteorites fell over an elliptical area measuring about 5 miles by 1 mile, between Pultusk and Ostrolenka. Larger specimens ranged from a half-pound to over 4 pounds. Thousands of tiny specimens weighing less than 10 g to 1 g were given the name of “Pultusk peas”. It is classified as an H5 chondrite.
This specimen was discovered by a Polish meteorite hunter as a part of a large expedition. Exact time is 08:57 in the morning of November 13, 2024. It also comes with coordinates of the exact place that will be given to the buyer. The expedition had more than 30 people looking for meteorites for 10 days in the strewnfield.
