Ordinary chondrite meteorites

They are the most common type of chondrites. Ordinary chondrites represent about 83% of all meteorites. Depending on their iron content, they are divided into 3 groups: H, L and LL (high, low, very low). Depending on the definition of their chondrules, they are divided in numbers from 3 to 7, being 3 pristine and 7 completely destroyed. An ordinary chondrite with very well defined chondrules and a high iron content would be classified as an H3 for instance. Learn more
