Description
This iron meteorite comes from the Sahara Desert (NWA region). It was purchased from a local person in 2023. It is a single mass meteorite. What is remarkable is its twisted shape and makes you thing of the forces of nature as the meteorite faced extremely high pressures when entering the atmosphere that make it bend in such a way. Additionally, the patina has a nice orange hue due to the desert’s weathering. It is a stable piece, though.
It is an iron meteorite and hence, it comes from the core of asteroids that were destroyed by impacts with other bodies. It is an alloy of iron-nickel mainly although it contains other trace elements like iridium.
