Description
The Toluca meteorite is known to exist for many years. It was first used to make tools by native americans before it was discovered by the occidental world in 1776. Its estimate date of arrival to Earth is 10.000 years ago.
It is an iron meteorite and hence it probably comes from the core of asteroids that were destroyed by impacts with other bodies. It is an alloy of iron-nickel mainly although it contains other trace elements.
This half specimen shows the Widmanstatten pattern and its natural crust.
Weight: 811 grams.
