Description
In March 26, 1906 a huge meteorite was found 3 km NW of Selma, Alabama. The finder suggested that the meteorite is related to a bolide observed by many witnesses on July 20, 1898 at around 9 pm local time. With 140 kg of weight, Selma was the biggest stony meteorite in the US for over a decade. It has an iron content of 22% and is classified as an H4. It has heterogeneous chondrules in a dark matrix.
