Description

The Gatuto meteorite is one of the latest observed meteorite falls. It occurred on April 24th, 2020 at around 8 pm in Kirinyaga County, Kenya, at the skirt of Mount Kenya. It was a chilly evening interrupted by a terrifying sound accompanied by a blast. Local people reported that the sky was lit up with a reddish hue. When the meteorites hit the ground villagers scampered for safety. Numerous local newspapers reported the event:

Estimated weight of the fall is below 30 kilos.

This specimen is 100% covered in fusion crust with regmaglypts, rims, flow lines… the pictures speak for themselves. It is probably the best specimen of the fall in terms of quality.
