Description

Despite being in the heart of Africa, Chad surprisingly has only 5 classified meteorites and all together don’t reach 15 kilos of mass. Boutalfil is being classified as the biggest one. It fell in the East of the country, next to Cameroon and the TKW will be around 35 kilos. Probably an LL6 chondrite. Boutalfil exhibits a great contrast of dark crust and white interior. All pieces were recovered shortly after the fall and the low content of iron makes them have a clear interior.

This piece has some grass still embedded after the impact on the floor. It was not removed as it tells part of the story of the landing rock.

Certificate of authenticity included. IMCA 5591.
