Description

Meteorites from Vesta are the result of another meteorite hitting the asteroid and releasing its rock into space, where they were floating for probably millions of years until their trajectory led them to Earth.

The Tatahouine meteorite is classified as an achondrite, diogenite. Its parent body is the asteroid Vesta. It was observed to fall on June 27th, 1931 in Tatahouine, Tunisia. The space rocks fell 4km SE of the town. The Tatathouine’s mineral assemblage is composed of very ancient materials, some dated to be 4.500.000.000 years old.

In this lot many specimens of this historical fall are offered. There are approximately 97 specimens.
