Description
In 1992 a meteoritic iron mass of 150 kg was found on the ranch Tres Castillos in the Aldama Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Octahedral structure, schreibersite, and troilite are present. Tres Castillos has ~9% Ni and resembles members of the III AB group of iron meteorites, but its Ga/Ge ratio is much higher. It is classified as an ungrouped iron meteorite. Structurally it is a medium octahedrite.
In this lot a slice is offered. The weight-surface ratio is excellent as the slice is very thin.
Certificate of authenticity included. IMCA 5591.
