Description
Cape York is one of the most famous meteorites in the world. It is one of the largest known iron meteorites, classified as a medium octahedrite in chemical group IIIAB. The date of the meteorite fall is debated, but was probably within the last few thousand years. It was known to local Inuit for centuries, who used it as a source of meteoritic iron for tools.
This specific slice comes from the Agpalilik mass which is displayed in the Natural History Museum of Denmark. Virtually all kilos of this meteorite are in museums around the world. Hence, a private purchase of this meteorite is almost imposible.
