Description
Several iron meteorites were found near Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory of Australia in 1937. Later other masses were searched and found. The event created a 170 m in diameter crater that can be still seen. The event is thought to have happened 5500 years ago which is relatively recent, at least in geologic terms. Interestingly, the crater is just 400 km away from the Henbury craters. Boxhole is classified as an IIIAB iron meteorite.
